The Knives Are Out

The Observer noted that Mourinho would love a return to his most hated club as he loves passion and a big name. Perhaps he likes fans to provide their own flags too. Elsewhere there's talk of the Real Madrid job, a job he's bound to accept at some point. The only people who aren't talking at the moment are those who should have shut up in the first place.

This situation should have been handled properly. Last week Hicks decided to give his own potted history on the "misunderstanding" to anyone who would listen. Did we really need to be told? It wasn't a negative interview but a quick spin later and Rafa's on the next flight to Madrid. Again.

Mind you, he's not doing himself any favours. Derby County, the worst team I think I've seen since Swindon fifteen years ago nearly took a point or three from us, one shot Wigan took two points and today a team who haven't been paid for a while were unlucky not to be dreaming of the 4th round draw. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and blame poor luck or the players but Rafa's behaving very oddly at present. No defensive on the cover at the Derby County game, one striker at home against a team who have never scored against us and leaving the only players who can score at home today. If it wasn't for Torres and Gerrard Rafa may well have gone by now.

There's a school of thought that suggest that he's had enough and WANTS to go now. It'd be worth his while if Bill and Ted give him the shove so why resign? If the Mascherano deal falls through he may says it's that that sends him on his way. Who knows?

Well, the players might. I don't believe we won a single 50-50 ball today. Not a one. It's that which concerns me more than anything else. Have they given up? Do they know something?

For the record I don't want Rafa to go. I just want 2005 Rafa to come back and remain coy to the press while giving us huge trophies. Is that too much to ask?
