The Vilification of Luis Suarez

In defence of Suarez it could be argued that this particular incident was an instictive reaction, not a planned calculated strategy and as such it can be forgiven but not forgotten.

During his time at Anfield he has thrilled crowds everywhere with his trickery, vision and sublime skills. Unfortunately there have been one or two incidents with Suarez that have made me cringe and wish he hadn't done them, because I just feel it diminishes the admiration he has gained with his mercurial talents.

So on that basis I just hope that Kenny can guide him and change this minor aspect of his game, however what I cannot agree with is the current vilification of Luis Suarez the player after the incident with Rodwell during the recent Merseyside Derby.

Let's get this right, it was the referee who deserved the criticism for this incident and certainly not Luis Suarez, who let's not forget did get clattered by Rodwell even though there was no intent and certainly no foul.

The hypocrisy of the media beggars belief, because during the same game there were one or two incidents of Everton players who tried to con the referee that they had been fouled, in a clear attempt to cover up their own failings whilst at the same time hoping to get a fellow player booked.

The one particular incident that caught my eye was when Tim Howard collapsed into the net, despite Andy Carrol barely making any level of contact with him whatsoever. When the Referee signaled a corner he then screamed at the Referee as if he had been shoulder barged into the goal post.....

Sadly the media failed to pass any comment on this particular incident and many more incidents over the weekend that were far more worthy of castigation than the reaction of Suarez to the good tackle by Rodwell at the weekend.

To expect the media to be balanced and un-biased is probably a little too much to expect in the modern day media frenzy that goes under the heading of sporting journalism.....
