Walk through the storm

17 points from seven games puts us level on points with leaders Chelsea but late winning goals in three of the four victories and a disappointing goalless draw at home to Stoke paint a different picture, according to some.

In previous seasons Liverpool have struggled against lower clubs and dropped points when they should have been claiming wins. The points gap between ourselves and United and Chelsea could have been a lot less if only we had been able to win some of those games.

After the Middlesbrough game in August, in which the Reds came back from a goal down to win 2-1 in the last five minutes, Steven Gerrard said "Last season we only lost once at home but had too many draws which isn't good enough. You need your home form to be immaculate".

It was clear that the team were determined to improve on previous seasons and later results showed that desire to claim maximum points. Inability to break down a very good Stoke defence was disappointing, but not typical of the start of the season as a whole.

There will always be wind and rain and its up to all of us to get through it to the golden sky.
