No more looking at 4th as some sort of success. We've been doing that for far too long. Enough of worrying about Utd winning number 19. We need to start focusing on how we get to 19, 20 and beyond. No more excuses as to why we can't be back on top. Liverpool need to reclaim their place as the elite club at the top of English football. It can't happen overnight but it has to happen. It has to what we strive for.
However, winning is not something that just happens by chance. It needs to come from the top of the club, through the manager and down to the players. The owners need to show the right ambition by investing in the squad, stadium, etc. The manager needs to instill a belief in the players that nothing short of winning is acceptable. Finally, the players have to make it happen with the help of the fans. Everyone pulling in the same direction.
Our new owners are making all the right noises about winning. Alas, our manager isn't. In fact, he has every excuse in the book as to why we shouldn't be winning. Thats why he must be moved on. He and half of the squad who are nowhere near good enough. Rid the club of every single person who doesn't have the sole intent of getting us back to the top and keeping us there. Enough of this madness.
Get a manager that we can be proud of. Build a team that we can believe in. If this season has to be written off as we start to build for the future then so be it. But at least make sure we're writing it off for good reason.
