After a two-year wait, Djibril Cisse signed for Liverpool in July 2004.

He had originally agreed to join the Reds in 2002, after discussing terms on a transfer with then manager Gerard Houllier.

Cisse suffered a horrific broken leg early in the 2004/05 season, but trained hard to return to action in March - months ahead of schedule. He later admitted that if it weren't for the assistance of the club medical staff he could have lost his leg because of the injury.

Cisse's finest moment must surely be taking part in Liverpool's amazing Champions League final victory over AC Milan in Istanbul, coming on as a substitute and scoring in the penalty shoot-out.

In the summer of 2006 it was announced that Marseille had agreed a laon deal for Cisse, on the day he broke his leg for a secodn time, but the move went through and was made permanent a year later.
