Kop Kids: EXCLUSIVE Vegard Heggem interview

Hello and thanks for visiting Kop Kids.
I have taken over from Steve who is at secondary school now but he still helps on Kop Talk.
My favourite Liverpool player is Michael Owen but my second favourite player is Vegard Heggem.
Because I really like Vegard Heggem and because he uses the internet, I thought I would get him to answer some questions for me to get Kop Kids underway.
Everybody knows about Michael Owen and the players that are really famous because they play every week but Vegard has been injured for a long time now and that makes me sad. I would be really sad if he couldn't play football again. I hope he plays again soon because a lot of people like him very much!!!!!!

What is your favourite drink?
Skimmed milk!
What is your favourite food?
Italian and Mexican
What is your favourite film?
I liked 'The Matrix', 'Total Recall' and 'The Usual Suspects'.
What are your favourite television programmes?
'Black Adder' or 'Fawlty Towers' - English humour!
Have you got a girlfriend?
Yes, she's Norwegian and her name is Trine.
Do you think Liverpool will win the Premiership?
Yes, I think they'll win it this season or the next.
At what age did you start playing football?
I played my first match for my local team when I was 7.
What has been the best part of your career?
1997-1999
What has been the worst part of your career?
Ever since October 2000 has been a hard time for me as a footballer.
I've got many good friends. It wouldn't be fair to single one out.
Did your family encourage you to play football?
Yes, they love football, and they've been a great help during my career.
Where you good at football from an early age?
Yes.
Do you play any other sports now or did you as a child?
I played a bit of volleyball for a couple of years when I was around 14-15 years old.
What is your best child hood memory?
I grew up on a farm, and have loads of good memories from my childhood.
Do you have any brothers or sisters?
I've got a sister. Her name is Reidun, and she's 3 years older than me. We're good friends!
Have you played football for any other football teams? If so, who?
My first club was Rennebu. Then I went on to play for Orkdal when I was 16. I turned professional when I was 19, playing for Rosenborg. I played there for 3 1/2 seasons before I came to Liverpool.
I have seen your website and know you like the internet but do many
other Liverpool players use the internet too?
There is a computer at our training ground where the players can go on the Internet before or after training. The foreign lads are quite keen, but I haven’t seen any of the English players logged on yet...
Michael Owen is my favourite player as you know. Who was your
favourite player as a child and who is your favourite player today?
I always liked Diego Maradona, and used to have a big poster of him on my wall. I don't think any of todays players come close to him.

Do you watch Soccer AM on Sky Sports on a Saturday morning?
Yes, I watch it when I get the chance. I think it's a good show!
If you could have one wish come true, what would it be and why?
For myself, it would definitely be to be injury free for the rest of my career. For the world, it would be to defeat poverty and hunger in all the starving and underdeveloped countries.
