"After all, you can lose or gain six points in eight days over Christmas. Why do you need to think about it in September? Of course I want to see us reduce the gap, but there’s still a long way to go.
"They have a good team and a strong squad, but Chelsea can lose games. They almost lost against Wigan on the opening day, so why not other teams? They aren’t winning 5-0 each game.
"I’m confident the goals will come, it’s only a question of time," he added. "I would say we have a better team and a better squad than last season."
