The reserves beat Wigan 3-0 at the JJB Stadium on Wednesday night to earn their first league win of the new campaign and the praise of Gary Ablett.

"On the whole we are really pleased," said the reserve team coach.

"We knew it would be fantastic to go and play in the JJB [Stadium] which we really enjoyed.

"I think the game went according to plan and throughout the match the players showed an understanding of the work we've been trying to do with them over the last three months, so that was really pleasing.

"We have struggled to score goals in the past and so I was delighted we scored three and we possibly should have had a couple more on top of that.

"We are improving and we want to continue to improve and as long as the players want to get better we will keep working hard."
