Padelli gave a man of the match performance in the defeat to Middlesbrough reserves, keeping the score down to 1-0. Afterwards Gary Ablett praised the debutant.

"Daniele did very well and can be very pleased with his debut," said the reserve team coach.

"At times it was difficult for us in the first half because we left Jordy Brouwer isolated on his own up front and we didn't get support to him quick enough which was disappointing.

"We started positively in the second half but we suffered when Besian Idrizaj was sent-off for two silly fouls. To be fair to Bez he apologised after the game and he knew he was in the wrong but I felt at that time we were right in the game.

"The young lads worked their socks off and while we are disappointed with the result I can't fault their efforts."
