Agger ready for debut

Liverpool signed the 21 year old centre back from Brondby for £5.8m last week. Agger was not included in the squad to face Spurs last Saturday because he has played a mere 25 minutes of football since returning from a knee injury. However, the Danish international has declared himself fit and says he is ready to make his Liverpool debut.

"All the players had an intensive physical test on Tuesday and the positive thing for me is I didn't feel any of the effects of my injury," said Agger.

"I'm ready to play whenever the manager decides the time is right.

"Rafa Benitez has not talked to me about when I will play my first match yet.

"At the moment I'm just trying to digest everything since I arrived, but you don't move to a club like Liverpool unless you have the right head for it.

"The training is not too much different to Brondby. There are set patterns and then we spend a lot of time on tactical work."

Agger is unlikely to make his debut against Manchester United this Sunday, instead he will probably make his first appearance against Portsmouth in next week's FA Cup game or the Birmingham game the following Wednesday.
