"For me it's very important that the Reds get Didi Hamann back as quickly as possible now," revealed Aldridge.
"He's a terrific player and is brilliant at doing that job protecting the back four. Steven Gerrard can also do it brilliantly but wth Didi back it will give him the chance to get forward more often.
"As we've seen for England as well as Liverpool Stevie can add firepower and cause an awful lot of damage to the opposition when the system allows him to get further forward.
"When Didi gets back we can look forward to the new skipper being given a lot more freedom."
