Aldo wants Owen to break his record

Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy came close, but missed out on a goal against Wolves last week.

"It means I keep hold of the record," said Aldridge. "It is a statistic I'm hugely proud of, not just because of what it means to me as a player, but also because I achieved it for Liverpool.

"In the right team Michael Owen could match my record, but the Liverpool forward needs a better supply line.

"If my record is ever going to be surpassed I would love it to go to another Livepool player, and Michael Owen is more than good enough to do it.

"But the rest of the team needs to sharpen its cutting edge significantly if that's going to happen."
