Aldridge told the club's official website: "It's all about opinions but to me it sticks out like a sore thumb that we need to sort out the wide left position.
"I've always been a keen admirer of Damien Duff and it's a pity we never got him last year. We lacked width a lot of the time last season and he would suit that role down to the ground.
"I am sure Gerard will be trying his best to bring the right players in for next season."
