Alonso breaks his ankle as Reds lose to Chelsea

A disallowed penalty from refere Mike Riley denied the Reds a first half lead and a lucky late goal from Joe Cole gave the visitors all three points.

But worst of all was the injury to Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard has broken his right ankle after a tackle from Frank Lampard.

He will now be out of action for 5-6 weeks.
