Alonso calls for big wins

Liverpool only took a point of Man Utd this season and were beaten 4-1 by Chelsea at Anfield earlier in the season. Xabi Alonso says it is time the Reds started beating the teams they are looking to overhaul at the top of the English game.

"It is a very important part of the season for us and we are looking forward to it. We know that if we want to be in the top two we have to beat the top teams and it is a challenge for us," said Alonso.

"The first step is Chelsea away and we know that winning there is really, really difficult. They have drawn only one game at home in the league during this season.

"It is going to be a big game and we hope to be the side to give them their first defeat at Stamford Bridge.

"We have drawn against them twice in the Champions League. We know more or less how to play against them. But at the same time we also know how difficult it is to get a draw against them. We will prepare to try to get the right result.

"We want to make sure it is not another 4-1 as it was for them at Anfield earlier in the season. We have to make it another kind of game and make sure we don't concede so many goals."
