Alonso confident

Alonso was stretchered off during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Portsmouth yesterday but is hoping to be fit by the weekend. A scan at Melwood revealed the midfielder has suffered an ankle ligament strain but Alonso is confident he can recover by the time the Reds travel to Cardiff.

"When it happened I was very worried but now I feel more optimistic. I'm feeling very positive about my chances of being fit for Saturday," he said.
