Alonso determined to join Liverpool

The Real Sociedad midfielder is hoping to sign for the Reds later this week, and should be available for selection when Rafael Benitez picks his team to face Manchester City on Saturday.

"Xabi Alonso is looking forward for the deal to be completed," said Ibanez.

"I know he watched Liverpool's game this weekend and he is focused on the possibility of playing in the English Premiership next season."
