Alonso expecting further improvement.

Alonso has quickly settled in at Anfield and has become a fan favourite with his ability on the ball yet the Spaniard believes that even better times are just around the corner.

Alonso said: "I know people are saying nice things but it is just the beginning.

"The most important thing is the team. If everyone has a good level, then we will have better results. I hope that time can help us play together better. But more training and the team realising together what we have to do will help us get better results.

"But we are just starting. I have to improve many things yet, but I am happy with how it has gone so far.

"I am feeling comfortable on the pitch and am trying to do what I know, playing with the style I have always played. I am happy because I played a good game against Monaco I think, and I want to keep improving.

"The game here is quicker. In Spain you have more poise, but here there is more physical contact and the referees allow more things to happen. I don't mind the physical side. The Premiership is different but you have to get used to it.

"I am also getting used to the city quite quickly too. The people of Liverpool are nice and are very kind to me. Inside the stadium and outside the people support me and are always telling me how well I am doing.

"Each day I'm getting more and more contact with supporters. I don't know if I'm becoming a favourite with the fans but they have been very good to me so far.

"It's the responsibility of all the squad to ensure we have good results. Not to have Steven Gerrard on the pitch is a blow, and the rest of the players will have to work together to make sure we can progress.

"I know the responsibility I have. But as I have said, the whole of the team must be responsible. Maybe people are talking because I play in the same position as Steven, but whoever plays must do very well.

"I don't feel any extra pressure. I will play with the same responsibility knowingthat the rest of the team has the same thing."
