Alonso hopes for cup start

Alonso has never faced non-league opposition before but is hoping to do so when Liverpool play Havant & Waterlooville in the fourth round of the FA Cup tomorrow.

"The FA Cup is looking good at the moment and we have another special game coming up," said the midfielder.

"I've never played against a non-league team before. In Spain that can never happen.

"Non-league teams aren't part of the cup and that's why the FA Cup is so special in this country.

"It's a dream come true for a lot of their players and we will respect them because they have reached this round of the competition and they have been doing things pretty well so far.

"But it's a competition which has a lot of prestige. It's a competition which if you win brings a lot of prestige to the club and to the players. And we want to get to Wembley, of course."
