Alonso praised

Alonso has been linked with a move away from Anfield all Summer but has insisted he wants to remain at Liverpool and fight for his place. He proved his point with another fine performance in last night's pre-season friendly against Lazio.

"He was playing well," said Benitez about Alonso.

"That was positive for us. He is a good player and hopefully we will have another good player coming in soon. We can improve so we will try to improve."
