Alonso wants revenge

Spain failed to beat Greece at Euro 2004 which meant they were knocked out in the group stage four years ago. Although Spain have already qualified for the quarter finals this year Xabi Alonso is still hoping to avenge that draw tonight.

"Drawing against Greece at Euro 2004 was probably the main reason we went out in the group stages," said the Liverpool midfielder.

"We went home, but Greece went on to win it. Now we want it to be our turn!

"The match was absolutely massive for us! We dominated the game from start to finish, but like I said earlier, they had a system set up to sit back and hit us on the break. We were punished for not killing them off when we were winning.

"Tonight they will probably sit deep, play it tight and try to counter-attack as much as they can. They are all very disciplined and know how to play this style, so I'm sure they'll continue to use it!

"They have a lot of experience in their squad, and that helped them a lot at Euro 2004. If I had to say who their best players were, I guess both Georgios Karagounis and Angelos Bassinas stand out as the key men, but I think their whole team work really well together."
