Alonso is fully aware of what Rafael Benitez is capable of, having seen his Valencia side close up last season as he played for Real Sociedad, and the player says he knows exactly why Benitez was such a success.
"Not only is Benitez a great coach, he is a master of psychology," said Alonso.
"He can make the players become friends and he can help them perform to a higher level. This is how he enabled Valencia to win La Liga.
"I believe under Benitez our work will be excellent. I am convinced that this season the Reds can be considered to win the Championship."
Alonso is expected to put pen to paper and complete a £10.5m move to Liverpool this week.
