America is land of opportunity for Riise

Celtic, European champions F.C Porto and Roma will provide the stellar opposition for the jaunt to the States, and 23-year-old Riise is keen to pit his wits against such high quality ahead of a crucial season for both the club and himself.

Riise said: "It's good that we're going away for a while because that will help with the team bonding and team togetherness. With a new manager and new staff at the club I think it's important we go away and spend time getting to know each other.

"The games we have lined up are all against good teams as well so they'll be good tests for us. We'll be able to see where we are in terms of our preparations for the season.

"Celtic, Porto and Roma are all top quality sides and I personally can't wait for the games. Training and getting fit is what pre-season is all about, but playing matches is the most enjoyable part of it. I'm sure we'll all get a chance to show what we can do over there and it's up to us to stake our claim for a place in the team on the first day of the season."
