Nicolas Anelka says he does not hold any grudges against Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier for not signing him following his loan spell.

While the media have tried to claim there was a bust-up, Anelka says he is pleased with the experience.

"My time at Anfield has given me back my appetite to play football," says Anelka.

"Liverpool allowed me to develop my all-round game and I felt good because I was being used as more than just a striker.

"I got on with everyone and was really sorry to leave.

"It was disappointing to be told I was going to be signed by Gerard Houllier and then have him change his mind, but that's life.

"I don't hold any grudge against Gerard because he helped me enormously during my five months there."
