Anfield delight for Houllier

The Frenchman knew that Micky Adams' Foxes would offer firm resistance after arriving at Anfield fresh from a 4-0 demolition of Leeds United and he was more then happy to hear the final whistle signal a much-needed home success.

Houllier said: "I thought we played well today, and we played very well at times. Our passing and movement was good and we created lots of chances. It was a bit nervy at the end when they scored but I think it would have been unfair if we hadn't won the match.

"Leicester are a hard side to play against. If you look at their record then you can see they almost always score away from home. They are difficult opposition to play against, but we competed well and deserved the win.

"Emile often seems to score against them, particularly at Anfield. I'm sure his first goal of the season will do his confidence a lot of good."
