"Gary Neville is likely to fill the right-back role, but there have to be question marks over the left-back job and Carragher has played there many times.
"The alternatives may be Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge but I think they are better attacking than defending.
"I have noticed that when opponents get little out of a defender, like Carragher, they tend to back off, and that gives more room to move forward . That's what he did against Everton and it was so effective that he could have scored.
"I'm delighted to see him back in the first team. He does not want to make mistakes, has a defender's footballing brain, and is good at stopping the opposition from scoring."
