Another defeat for under 18's

This afternoon's defeat means that John Owens' side have lost four out of their opening five fixtures while conceding twelve goals.

Owens said: "It was disappointing but Newcastle are top of the league and are a very good side.

"We did okay in the first half and after going 1-0 down we got a good equaliser. Paul Barratt went on a surging run from midfield and found Karl Noon who finished well.

"We started the second half conceding two goals in the space of two minutes. Newcastle got a contentious penalty when Danny O'Donnell was said to be holding in the area, and it was 2-1. Then straight from our kick-off we lost possession and they scored again to make it 3-1.

"Danny O'Donnell pulled a goal back when his header went in off the bar but we conceded again in the last minute of the game.

"We did well from an attacking point of view but defensively we fall short and we are too slow to react to situations."
