Another injury

Mellor was ruled out of the reserve game at Aston Villa yesterday with a knee injury. It was rumoured a couple of months ago that Mellor had a knee injury and was playing through the pain barrier until the transfer window opened and Liverpool were able to sign another striker.

With Cisse and Pongolle out injured for the rest of the season and Fernando Morientes inelligible, the Reds are hoping that Mellor does not need an operation that will rule him out of the Bayer Leverkusen games.
