The reserve team defender, who was part of the 2006 FA Youth Cup winning side, has joined Tranmere on a six month loan deal.

"I'm very happy to be at Tranmere. It is a good club and it will be a great experience for me," said Antwi.

"I'm looking forward to meeting my new teammates and some hard training ahead of the season."

"I'd like to thank Rafa Benitez and Liverpool Football Club for allowing him to come here. It is great that the two clubs are able to work together to help the career of a young player," added Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore.

"Godwin is a very talented young defender who we've been watching for some time. When I heard he had become available on loan I jumped at the chance of bringing him in to play right back.

"He is comfortable on the ball, already has Football League experience from his time at Hartlepool and he will add quality, strength and pace to our defence."
