"I will remember this day forever. It is a dream come true and to win against world champions Italy makes it a perfect day," said Arbeloa.
"I am extremely happy because I wasn't sure if it was going to happen. There was one substitution left for us and I was really pleased when the coach told me to get ready.
"On top of that, we played a great game, we dominated and we deserved the win.
"Luis Aragones has congratulated me for my performance. I hope I will be at Euro 2008 but the coach has the final decision.
"It would be fantastic to play in the European Championship but I will have to wait and see."
