Arbeloa stamp earns Fagan a ban

Fagan was clearly seen by tv replays stamping on Liverpool defender Alavaro Arbeloa during last week's game. The incident was missed by the referee but an independent commission has issued Fagan with a three game ban for the stamp and a one game ban for making a 'frivolous' appeal.

"At an independent regulatory commission hearing today, a charge of violent conduct against Derby County's Craig Fagan was found proved," said an FA spokesman.

"Referee Alan Wiley confirmed that he did not see the incident, and that had he done so he would have sent Fagan off."
