"Arbeloa is leaving when he is still very young, but he is a player with great potential and this is a step forward for him. He will be helped by the Spaniards that are already at Liverpool," said the former Spain captain.
"Also, Spain will benefit because he will gain great experience playing in the Premiership and Champions League.
"His move is important for Spanish football. He will have an experience that I haven't, but something that I know from friends will hugely benefit him. You grow up fast when you go to a foreign country, you must adapt very quickly."
