The Brazilian left-back is confident his countryman will impress when he makes his debut against Crewe in tonight's Carling Cup third round tie at Anfield.

"Maybe we will see him play in the Carling Cup and the manager might rest Pepe. He will then have the opportunity to show people what he can do," said Aurelio.

"He has shown his ability during the training sessions and is doing really and working hard.

"He has a great chance to do well here and is still young. I know there is a massive difference when you come from South America to English football. Here the goalkeeper has to be ready to deal with any situation at all times. He has worked hard on his application in every detail and he will be a good goalkeeper for us.

"He is trying to learn English and is improving. We are trying to help him learn and it's the same with the other new players who are learning the language like Andrea Dossena, David Ngog and Philipp Degen."
