"I was his teammate at Valencia and we have a good relationship off the pitch," said the Brazilian.
"He has three kids like me and my little boy goes to the same school as his son. He was a great help for me when I first arrived in Spain and it's really nice to see him back at Liverpool.
"As a player Pellegrino was very organised and always had good concentration. He is working with the defence and doing a lot of tactical work with us including defending from set pieces.
"He is a great help to us along with Sammy Lee. This season has all the ingredients to be a really great one. We are working really hard and trying to be focused on every detail. We hope to translate that to the games and make Liverpool stronger this season."
