Aurelio's first season with the Reds was disrupted by injury but after returning to first team action two weeks ago and making his first start at the weekend the Brazilian aims to make up for lost time.

"I hope I can really make a go of things at this club now. My first year was difficult because of all the injury problems I had, but through it all I had the support of the fans and my teammates. All of this helped me a lot," said the former Valencia defender on the club's official website.

"Now I want to return these things and give them something back.

"I'm very glad to be back. It's been very difficult. The injury happened at a time when I was in a really good moment, both in my fitness and the way I was playing for the team. My game was increasing.

"But now is not the time to think about the past, I have to look to the future.

"I feel good because I'm back and recovered in less time than we thought. I'm very happy and must thank God and the medical staff.

"I am not 100 per cent yet but I am feeling really good. After six months out it will take time and I know I can still improve."
