Kewell did come on in the second half with Australia 1-0 down however, and his appearance marked the Aussies' best period of play. Kewell had a great chance to equalise within minutes of coming on but blazed his shot over the bar.
Kewell didn't let the miss get to him and he was instrumental as Australia really took the game to Brazil and played some nice football before being caught on the break in the 90th minute for Brazil's second goal.
The 1-1 draw between Croatia and Japan in the other group game means Australia should only need a draw against Croatia in their final group game to progress.
