Aussies ride their luck to win

Australia came from 1-0 down to score three goals in the last eight minutes and beat Japan 3-1 in their opening game of the 2006 World Cup. However, the Aussies were lucky to get the win as Japan squandered chance after chance before the Socceroos got their equaliser.

Harry Kewell tried to meet a ball into the box but was tackled by a defender. However, the ball fell to Everton's Tim Cahill who slotted home the equaliser. Cahill also got the Aussies' second goal but not before giving away what looked a stonewall penalty. However, the ref missed it and Australia were able to take full advantage.

Harry Kewell played the full 90 minutes for Australia and didn't look to be suffering from any sort of injury hangover.
