Auxerre boss will quit when Cisse leaves

Auxerre boss Guy Roux says he will retire from football when Djibril Cisse leaves for another club.

Gerard Houllier has given up trying to sign the striker for next season and instead turned his attention to El Hadji Diouf after dumping Nicolas Anelka for reasons that Insider members are privy to.

"Cisse is contracted to Auxerre until 2006," said Roux. "His sale price will not drop until 2005 and we don't need the money so we won't be selling him. The day I sell Cisse is the day I retire."

As for the Diouf transfer, Roux added: "I'm not surprised Gerard chose him ahead of Nicolas Anelka. I never saw much of Anelka at Liverpool, but Diouf is a player with more tricks than Nicolas Anelka."
