Babbel reveals comeback plans

Liverpool defender Markus Babbel has revealed that he aiming to make a return to action for the Reds in the last Premiership game of the season at home to Ipswich on May 11th.

If the Reds are in a strong position and it is safe to come on a sub, Babbel says he hopes Gerard will throw him on.

"I would love to enter the pitch in our final league match against Ipswich, even if it is only for five minutes," said Babbel.

"I want to breathe in the special air of Anfield once again.

"I have already spoken to our coach to ask whether he will let me play if we are a couple of goals ahead. That would be a dream come true."

The German defender also spoke of the words of support he has received from Liverpool supporters during his illness.

The official Liverpool F.C. website collected various emails from supporters to pass on to him while Kop Talk handed over various cards of support from all over the world.

Babbel added: "During my illness the fans supported me incredibly. The club have presented me with all the e-mails I received, one day it was more than 3,000. Our fans are the best in the world."
