The German defender's agent met with Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry on Friday to discuss a pay-off from his £50,000 per week contract.

"Blackburn have been in touch and are talking to his agent," confirmed Gerard Houllier. "If they can come to an agreement then Markus will have permission to leave."
