The 30-year-old former German international will face his Anfield colleagues at the weekend having only recently secured a year-long loan to Graham Souness's fast-improving Blackburn Rovers side and he expects to face a tough examination of his undoubted defensive qualities from the mercurial talents of Kewell.
Babbel said: "Harry has settled down in the team, he's very popular in the team, and he's a brilliant player.
"Maybe it's a little bit difficult for him at the moment because the whole team are still settling down and it's more difficult for the new players to give their best performances straight away.
"But I've seen him in training and he's an absolutely fantastic player who could make the difference for them."
