Babel aiming to help duo

Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres between them have scored 27 of Liverpool's 60 goals this season. Ryan Babel says the other players need to start scoring more regularly and take up some of that burden.

"I think you can expect those type of performances from Torres and Gerrard, but they also need us to help them," said the winger.

"If they do all the work they can't develop things for the team. So all our players have to work hard so those players can give something extra.

"They can give something extra because I think they have already been playing at the highest level for a couple of years in Spain and in the Premier League.

"Gerrard is in fantastic form. I already knew he was fantastic but it is different when you play with him and see him on the training field as opposed to on television. He is phenomenal.

"If we hadn't won at Derby I think people would have asked themselves, 'are Liverpool really strong enough for the title'?

"We made it difficult for ourselves because we wanted an early goal, which we got, but then had enough chances to score a second.

"We failed and they came level and it was more difficult than when we were in front.

"But we did win and got the three points and we have to look forward now to the next game against Manchester City."
