Babel thanks fans

The Reds appeared to be going out of the Champions League when Emmanuel Adebayor equalised with six minutes remaining before supersub Babel won a penalty converted by Steven Gerrard and added a fourth himself in injury time. Babel was quick to praise the fans for their efforts after the match.

"The fans pulled us to another level," said the Dutchman, who's second half cameo was reminiscent of David Fairclough.

"It's the same in all the big games, like against Everton and Inter. It's like playing with 12 men."
