Bad news for Wright following ankle injury

Liverpool defender Stephen Wright has been told that he has sustained ligament damage after injuring his ankle while playing for the reserves.

The defender will be out of action for 3 to 4 weeks casting doubts over his involvement in the European Under 21 Championships which are due to kick-off in Switzerland on May 16th.

A club statement reads: "This is very disappointing news for Stephen and everyone at the club wishes him well in his bid to make a speedy recovery."

Wright has been unhappy since he was dropped back into the reserves following the signing of Abel Xavier.
