The 21-year-old hit a brace in the impressive 6-0 victory over West Brom - taking his goal tally to 11 in the season. Baros believes that he is now worthy of a fifth start in six games against Manchester City at Anfield this Saturday.

Baros said: "In terms of productivity, that was definitely the most successful match in a Liverpool shirt for me. Gerard Houllier praised me after the game and I hope I have shown him now what I can do and can get to start regularly in the team.

A good display against Manchester City, if picked, will give Baros a chance to stake his claim for a place in the team to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on May 11th. The young striker has revealed that the squad are greatly anticipating the crucial clash.

Baros added: "It is going to be a showdown with Chelsea on the last day of the season. It will be a must-win game and everyone here believes we can do just that."
