The 22-year-old hitman has been sorely missed on Merseyside since he was forced out of action after suffering a broken ankle in an unfortunate clash with Anfield colleague Markus Babbel in the Reds' 3-1 win at Blackburn back in September.

Baros, speaking to the club's official website, said: "My first aim is to get back into the Liverpool team as soon as possible and then to play as many games as I can.

"I also want us to qualify for next year's Champions League because that is very important for everyone at the club. I believe we can.

I am much happier with tackling now after the injury and it is getting better every day.

"I have taken a lot of tackles over the last couple of weeks, both in the reserve games and in training, and I have not felt any pain. My ankle feels great and I cannot wait to test it again in the Premiership."
