Baros ready to repay the faith

The 21-year-old forward - dubbed the 'Ostravan Maradona' by fans in his homeland - is determined to give his many supporters on Merseyside a more consistent view of his considerable talent this season.

Baros, speaking to the club's official website, said: "The support of the Liverpool fans has been unbelievable. I enjoy it very much and I hope to repay them by doing well this season."

Baros has already impressed for the Reds during pre-season with his typical all-action style being in evidence in Friday's Amsterdam Tournament stalemate against Dutch side Ajax.

"I think I've done okay so far but as for how many goals I will score, I don't know, as many as possible," said a modest Baros.

The Czech international's continued rise to stardom for both club and country is, of course, in stark contrast to the first miserable months the player spent at Anfield.

"I feel a lot better because I can now speak the language. I definitely feel a lot more comfortable than when I first arrived," added Baros.

After scoring a respectable 12 goals in his first-full season at the club, Liverpool fans can only eagerly anticipate what delights the forthcoming season will bring from Baros.
