"It's a really exciting opening fixture against Liverpool and I am sure the fans will be really up for it as will the players," said the Villa captain.
"We had a terrific atmosphere for the final home game of the season against Sheffield United and hopefully we can see a lot more of that next season.
"Our results against the bigger teams haven't been too good in recent seasons but we drew at home to Liverpool and Chelsea last season so that is a start.
"If we could start with three points against one of the top sides in Europe that would be a massive early-season boost for everyone at the club."
