Beardsley backs Gerrard

Former Red Beardsley believes the Liverpool skipper is the ideal candidate to succeed David Beckham as England captain.

"Steven has done a fantastic job for his club and leads by example," said Beardsley.

"In many ways he is a more obvious candidate to lead England than Beckham ever was."
