Bellamy looking for the right balance

"There are loads of players who have had problems - that's the world we live in," he said.

"I look at my kids and I want to be a role model to them. My son is nine and he loves his football. I care about what he thinks. I was a very young dad, I have always just looked to do okay by the kids, that's all I want."

"If I am a really good role model off the pitch but rubbish on it, nobody cares. You must try to find the right balance. That's what I am trying to do. Maybe I need that little edge, but like everyone we all step over the line on the pitch sometimes and go too far.

"Referees know me, they know what I am about and they give as good as they get. The only people who criticise me are the ones who don't know me and have not worked with me."
